it feels kinda like in those movies, where you wake up in a nightmare that you just can't get out of no matter how hard you try, because it just seems to go on and on?

yeah well that's how i feel.
a couple of months later and it still feels that way.
its been a rollercoaster ride inside me;
as i try to convince myself to get the most out of what i have, but am continuously reminded by my friends about what could've and in my opinion, should've been.

sure thing its an easier life.
but that's not what i wanted. i think.

to be absolutely honest, i still feel the same sense of bitter disappointment and well [dare i say it], shame whenever i talk about what i'm doing now.
i get the same damn reactions everytime i answer people's questions and i honestly don't know how to answer the questions to "WHY?!"

call me whatever you want but i still do not understand how my profile suits that of what they want me to do. i mean like, seriously?

joining ndp has made it slightly more bearable, but ultimately, my vocation is not one that i am proud of.
that's my perspective.
whatever others may think about the bloody importance of this job and all that, i do know for freaking sure that i'd be better off serving my nation in other [higher] capacities.

i know of people who've slacked all through bmt just to get posted to my vocation.
people who've mostly failed ippt.
people who've a history of giving what's been interpreted as attitude problems previously.
but seriously??

i don't know if i've fallen through the cracks in the system or whatever.

but i do know for sure that i for one shall never view this system in the same way as before.

its a classic cliche that you dont know what you've got until its passed by..

when schooling, you will never believe when people say that studying's so much better than working- so you drag your feet day by day to school, thinking that the lucky people out there who don't have to study have it good.

but when your time comes, seems like it isnt as good as it seems huh?

jc life seems like a distant past heaven that wasn't long enough.
studying seems like a bliss.

that organised life that was, where time not spent studying was time wasted;
at least my brain wasn't degenerating.

hahah well i guess its kinda up to oneself to make use of your own time properly, all the more when you've nothing much to do: aka no real commitments such as work you have to complete or academic stuff you gotta worry about.
life has become such for me that i yearn for bookouts, but when i actually have free time,
it's wasted on the computer doing nothing productive in particular.

sure, there's no stress nor pressure.
but it just makes me feel lazy and lousy.
and i guess i have to admit it's even beginning to affect my life and relationships with people and my family..

its a syndrome that i believe affects many 19y/o guys in singapore.
the 'twilight zone' that we can so easily fall into.

guess it's up to me to do something.

time to finish up my driving and start to learn something soon (:
and of course, put more effort into appreciating the presence of those around me and more importantly, find ways to express that appreciation properly.

funny how life works ain't it?

just when you think that things are going oh-so-smoothly for you in life,
it just turns around and nudges you in your behind.

life these days aren't as carefree as i thought they would be last year..

what i imagined was a life with no more worries about academics,
one that had plenty of free time
-especially on weekends-
for me to spend with my loved ones.
especially my other half.

but surprise surprise,
seems like even the weekends are often eaten up.

then comes the part where other activities start eating up more and more time,
so much so that free time becomes a premium

chuck the inevitable stress into the equation,
plus a little of the issues that've been bothering everyone for some time.

feel so crappy.

everybody has their own interpretations of the same events and issues,
and well of course there are bound to be disagreements sometimes.

but what other way can there be around them besides discussions?

i guess the answer would be, not much.
right?

brooding too much on issues can never lead to anything good, can it?

and shouldn't the wronged be forgiving?

nobody's flawless and i'll admit i certainly have flaws.

back from the 6day field camp,
what an experience it was.

to go 6 days without bathing or even washing hands,
with camo cream on your face 24/6,
having to wear long sleeved clothes all the way and the brain-cell-killing helmet.

oh yeah and having to wear the lbv and protect my rifle every single second.
and not being able to use a handphone for 6 whole days!

glad that it's over!

the feeling of being able to bathe again after so long was reallyreally good.

dont know who's idea it was to plan it such that it overran valentine's day,
causing my poor shurly to have to spend v'day alone.

confinement week hasn't been easy,
especially in terms of adaptation and all the mental stuff.
it's really a challenge to overcome all the things you miss,
all the little little things.

like being able to walk around wherever you like,
being able to be with your loved ones
and every little other thing like being able to stroll to the toilet whenever you like
or being able to enjoy your meals slowly.
or even having a choice of the food for that matter.

but i guess they have really tried to make things better,
yet it cannot be denied that the real world is so much more a better place no matter what.

it made me think,
what the hell i was doing there at times.
its so easy to forget that all my friends are going through the same thing together.
but it's still not easy.

NS is indeed a life changing experience.

most of us try to look at it positively and believe me,
i've tried.
and i'll continue trying.
well, i guess i've succeeded for most of the time during the past few months.
the heartpounding fear that i felt when i thought of going to NS at 12 had mostly transformed into well, acceptance of the inevitability.
still, it still sucks to think that in a couple of weeks,
we won't have much freedom anymore.

plus the bloody driving school just has to move to woodlands next year.

so i have no choice but to try to finish as many lessons as i possibly can right now.

there are but kinda 2 ways to look at NS.
One: It's a waste of time.
Two: It's a necessary sacrifice.
well, laugh at me all you want, but i'd prefer to look at it the second way.
who cares about the selfish, shortsighted people who claim to be "pragmatic", and who think that NS should be abolished and the funds allocated to other sectors.
nobody likes it, but i guess someone has to do the dirty job.
and well guess what?

no matter how hard it gets down the road,
and even though i'm feeling like crap right now,

Okay, I've decided that I'll begin typing in proper sentences and lettering for my blog.
That's because I've decided that I'm gonna revamp this blog after my A's!
Into something intellectual. And witty.
Well, wittily intellectual. Or more of intellectually witty.
Hahahah.

Exciting times lie ahead man, and as they say - even if it's such a cliche - change IS the only constant in this world.
Especially if you're an 18 year old male in Singapore with the A Levels just 2 months ahead, 2 years of National Service and a road of uncertainty that lies ahead.
Especially if you're, me.

There are kinda lots of things that have to/can be done after my A Levels.
And from experience, we'll no doubt experience a feeling of uncertainty on what to do in the immediate aftermath of major exams.

It's like when you suddenly realise that,
"oh man! what else do i have to do?? what haven't i studied!
i can't play properly with that stupid test bugging me at the back of my head!" (figuratively of course).
(Don't think of a bug chewing on/buzzing around the back of your head.)

Or, the with teacher saying,
"Holidays are not meant for playing. They're just extra study breaks for you to prepare for next year. I've prepared a little bit of homework for you guys so you won't forget to study. Ok i need twenty volunteers now. Follow me down to the photocopying shop to get some stuff to be given out."
And make that Six different teachers doing the same thing.
So this upcoming 'holiday' will be the first true holiday that I've ever had since maybe.... Kindergarten?

OKAY that's all beside the point.

My point was that. Okay sorry i need to scroll up and see.

basically I've come up with an idea that'll hopefully help me to remember what I wanna do after A Levels! =D

thank goodness last week's over.
it was one helluva week!

ushering with council today, again!
this time for the reunion concert organised by the aj alumni.
well, as far as ushering duties go, it was rather alright!
we got to watch almost the whole thing too..
and we took pictures again.
hopefully, pictures soon!

anyway, something unpleasant happened on the way back.
thank goodness everything and everyone's alright.

at least its a lesson learnt-
rest assured i'll never let that happen again if i can help it.

such barbaric people and behaviour freaking disgust me.

national day break's here,
and i believe almost everyone has been looking forward to it.
yet now that its here,
i don't feel quite as happy as i thought i would be.

today was boring.

yesterday was less boring though,
went for cat high band concert.

today was virtually one of the most boring national day celebrations.
period.
somehow i believe that i had MUCH more fun in primary school celebrations than this,
although thats rather subjective.
or maybe it was just me.
whatever.

let's drink to the next few days of work and more work;
to boredom and beyond.

a billion and one things have happened since the last time i blogged.
which was like.
super looooooong ago.

we got 3rd for interhouse floorball a few saturdays ago, hurray.
(ignoring certain people with ap).
stupid rain spoilt the day dammit, kept having to shuttle to and from council dancething.
argh now i don't know any of the mass dances fully.
die.

chma after that. oh now i remember, 07/07/07.
it was as always, brilliant.
the bands and vocals stood out.
nothing else i've seen in schools beats chma.

well anyway, my hand hurts -stupid paddle.
and i think i've an abrasion.

my fricking nike wetshoes are screwed.
damn nike footwear, never again.

another point to note, choose who to sit behind in a dragon boat carefully.
especially if the person's a total newbie.
its just my luck i guess,
to have been seated behind wildly splashing girls who seem bent on trying to force-feed me as much salt-water as possible, both during abcamp and AGAIN today.
ughhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

it then rained out on us immediately after the race.
i had to run BAREFOOT on the fricking ROAD all the way to the nearest toilet.
which was, under the circumstances, not quite that near.
or so it seemed to me.
my poor soles.

caught transformers with my family today.

well personally, i thought it was great.

the graphics and transformations were brilliant.

and the transformers,

they were coooool.

was kinda surprised to see several familiar faces though.

i'm sorry but i didn't exactly look at the cast beforehand haha.

yeah, thats josh duhamel and amaury nolasco,

the guy from las vegas and of course, amaury's from what else but prison break.

hahaha..

so screw the critics.

go ahead and catch it.
it'll be worth it.

i guess our generation kinda missed out on the transformers cartoon series.

my brother loved it since he was young though.

but one thing's for sure.

this movie's gonna spawn a whole generation of transformers-loving kids.

went back to cathigh for old boys' homecoming toodayy with yanhao shaoming and nic cheng.
it was the typical crowded and noisy funfair with the touch of rowdiness you'd expect at a guys' school.
felt just like home. =D
met lots of familiar faces and ex teachers.
though they should have publicised the event more widely-
not everyone knew it was today. =X

caught goal 2 with zach, zhao and alf.
well okay, it WAS rather predictable.
but that didn't stop it from being kinda enjoyable haha.
however, unless you like soccer, i suggest you not watch it haha..

am i the only person who finds cineleisure's level 2 very irritating.
especially when you're in a rush to catch a movie.
the fricking lifts move slower than limping tortoises.
and they just have to force you to walk one whole damn round across the entire level just to get to the next escalator up.

so we decided to try and beat the system.

but whoever's idea was it to walk from the 6th floor down via the stairs i'm not sure.
HAHA.

as always, the day was full of the usual rubbish talking that had me laughing throughout haha.
enjoyable.

even though guys may not call each other every night to gossip/proclaim their love for one another openly/call each other by affectionate terms eg. "bestie", "jaocutiepie" or "chestie-poo" (HAHAHA) like SOME girls do;
good friends' company is always much appreciated.

i haven't exactly blogged properly for a long time.
mostly due to the darned common tests that've finally ended TODAY.
to be honest its been rather dull and boring for the past month or so.
the four week long camp/conference/mugging time that masqueraded as what we all call,
the "holidays".
in case you haven't noticed, it was the last hope of any form of break from school before the
PROMOS.

what overwhelming excitement and delightful times lie ahead.
damn i need a break.
right. now.

anywayyyyyyyyyy, i was looking forward to 4pm today quite very much.

but now that i no longer have to study like a maniac(for the moment),

finally.
after spending almost two weeks away from home,
i'm finally free.
well, almost.
but
oh dang-
i haven't started studying.

smun2007@nus was alright i guess.
(singapore model united nations)
i believe the world bank was rather mild as compared to the other comms;
resulting in relatively draggy and boring points at times.
even with the hot hostel (yes, even at night!) and stuff.
certain parts were enjoyable.
glad i've been able to know more people better too.
the experience was unique.

i got kinda irritated with stuff at one point,
but thanks rachel for accompanying me.
i owe you one.
=)
and thank goodness i brought a laptop.
it was cool being able to see all my friends,
6bers(nice talk and video call to zhao XD) and a01 people too.
not forgetting some aj ones too.

(note: some people really disgust me with their behaviour.)

came back from alpha-bravo camp yesterday.
to be honest, i'm surprised i actually rather enjoyed it.
it has been one of the more pleasant camp experiences that i've been through.

though it was loooooong, it didn't feel bad somehow.
i was actually feeling a little sad when it was ending haha..
weird.

there was plenty of emphasis on leadership skills and stuff like that
and the boring parts were the facilitation sessions.
same questions over and over again.
lol.

service learning with the intellectually disabled was
quite meaningful.

activities were quite fun.
even if the high elements were over-familiar to me.
(recall sec2 camps+npcc).
dragonboating was something new,
as was rafting.
even though the !#$%^&* girl in front of me kept splashing water and sticking her oar in the water.
grrrrrrrr, experience spoiler.
( water activities anyone? (: )
i have npcc to thank for the knotscraft skills that helped greatly haha.
=D
plus the navigating part for land expedition.
(its just orienteering!)

land expedition was rather cool too.
we walked all the way from aj to bedok jetty(at east coast).
it was really really really far.
we walked from 11+pm to 5+am.
from amk to serangoon to tenbillion places past eunos joochiat marineparade ij katong stpats taonan vj vs and god knows what other places.
thats far.
hahaha.
heard it was around 18km.
with the help of one map.
mmmmm.

interesting experience, you guys should try.
haha.
my group was quite cool.
with people like
huipeng(a01!)
stanley(hockey haha)
wilson(blur king-elects camp lol)
cheng cheng(towgay man.)
and coupla others.
chengcheng especially's really damn funny hahaha ava dude.

my bunkmates were super fricking crappy and hilarious too
before we slept everynight even after lights out,

plus bathing times.

rewind friday.

caught a midsummer night's dream with aj lit people at fort canning park.

it was quite an enjoyable and relaxing night,
and the play was rather entertaining and funny without being corny.
not baaaaaaaaaad.

but wait. there was a freaky close call.
had we walked 5 seconds slower, we would have been knocked down by a car.
lousy driver who didn't pull his handbrake had his brand new car roll downslope
and ONTO THE FRICKIN PAVEMENT (which had a huge crowd of people),
straight into the lamp post.

oh my !%$^#, we were darned lucky but it sure was freaky.
